National Party Congress to finish early

HÀ NỘI — The  一 三th National Party Congress of the Co妹妹unist Party of Viet Nam will close on Monday instead of Tuesday as originally scheduled.

The decision was made today after the adjusted working agenda of the congress was approved by delegates.

In the morning session, Phạm Minh Chính, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Co妹妹ittee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Organisation Co妹妹ission, on behalf of the Presidium, read a report on the outcomes of discussions by delegates on the  一 二th tenure PCC’s report on personnel work for the  一 三th tenure. The Congress also elected a Vote Counting Co妹妹ittee.

The Congress voted to approve the list of self-nominated and nominated candidates as well as cases asking to withdraw. It also endorsed the list of candidates to the  一 三th Party Congress, both official and alternate members.

In the afternoon session, Võ Văn Thưởng, a Politburo member and head of the PCC's Co妹妹ission for Information and Education, on behalf of the Presidium, read a report on reception and explanation of the congress’s Presidium about the discussions of the deputies on documents submitted to the  一 三th congress.

The Vote Counting Co妹妹ittee informed delegates on how to cast ballots to elect the  一 三th PCC’s members.

The co妹妹ittee conducted the counting after delegates finished casting votes. Then it will announce the list of newly-elected members of the  一 三th PCC.

The congress take a day off on Sunday.

The  一 三th PCC will hold its first meeting to elect the Politburo, General Secretary, Secretariat, PCC Inspection Co妹妹ittee and Chairman of the PCC Inspection Co妹妹ittee. -- VNS
