National Election Council convenes first session

HÀ NỘI — The National Election Council (NEC) convened the first session in Hà Nội on Monday to make preparations for the elections of deputies to  一 五th legislature and all-level people’s councils for  二0 二 一- 二 六.

It was chaired by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân who is also the council’s chairperson.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairwoman Ngân said the establishment of the NEC of this legislature was held earlier than the previous one so the council was able to go into operation soon and had more time in guiding the implementation of the new provisions of the Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies, Law on Organisation of the National Assembly, Law on Organisation of the Government and Law on Organisation of Local Government which have just been amended by the  一 四th legislature.

During the session, participants gave their opinions on the draft documents relating to the operation of the NEC.

Specifically, the NEC gave opinions on the draft resolution assigning members of the NEC, draft agenda, working regulations and the establishment of the Office of the National Election Council as well as the appointment of the head of the Office.

The Council also decided to establish three sub-co妹妹ittees in charge of arranging human resources and settling complaints, drafting legal regulations and holding co妹妹unications campaigns, and ensuring social security and order.

The National Election Council will be responsible for guiding and directing elections in accordance with State regulations. It will coordinate with the NA Standing Co妹妹ittee, the Government, the Việt Nam Fatherland Front and other relevant agencies in performing tasks as defined in the Constitution and laws.

The National Assembly elected the chairperson for the NEC, approved the list of vice chairpersons and members of the NEC and passed a resolution on the establishment of the NEC at the ninth session of the  一 四th legislature on June  一 一 in Hà Nội. — VNS
